Showcase of Work
Welcome to my Master of Arts in Educational Technology (MAET) showcase! On this page, you will find samples of my work from my three years in the program. My work is organized into three categories that summarize the three most important components of my teaching philosophy and practice. The three categories are critical thinking, technology and learning.

Critical Thinking
Assessing Learning
In this project, I learned how to lay out information so the students see how they are being graded and which creates a more meaningful assignment. I took a quiz from a brain unit I teach and was able to turn it into an infographic project where students use feedback to grow their understanding. This assessment students have to collaborate and work together to show what they learned about the brain and concussions.

Technology
MAET Lenses Lesson Plan
I revisited a lesson plan about animal adaptation through the lens of MAET. In this lesson I made sure my students were designing, creating, inquiring, playing, and/or problem-solving. I incorporated using an infographic for my students to present their work. I am pushing myself to come up with different ways to show their understanding and not just giving a test. I am using technology to aid in my students learning.

Online Course Module
Here is a course management system I created for a science unit. I purposefully selected web-based tools around their affordances to support the teaching and learning objectives of my students. I design and developed a tool that would teach my students effectively and allow feedback and assessments.

Math Practice
I pushed myself to learn some simple coding using Trinket. I wanted a fun and engaging way for students to practice their math facts. Students can engage in the code part and change how they want it to work and also practice their facts. This is helping me incorporate more computer science into my classroom.

Learning
Learning Spaces
I redesign a space through 21st-century eyes. I used a program called SketchUp to design a classroom that would allow flexibility, creativity, and collaboration for both my students and myself. This challenged me to think about how a classroom is used for both the teacher and the student. I was able to think of different ways to use a space that would engage and prompt learning.

Personal Theory of Learning
I had the opportunity to write a reflective piece on what learning is. I started with writing what I believed it was at the beginning of the course and then adapted it as I went through the course. This course helped me refine my beliefs on learning. I was able to see what helps learning, hinders learning, and what factors play into learning. Through this paper I was able to see my role as a teacher in helping my students learn.

Assessment Design Checklist
After spending a lot of time reading and looking into assessments, I created a checklist for teachers to use when creating assessments. This checklist primarily focuses on formative assessments and why we need to be doing certain things when giving formative assessments. You can see in this document as I grew in my ideas and changed it as I went. This checklist has opened my eyes to do better with my assessments.
