Classroom Gallery
Welcome to a look into my classroom. Here you will find some of the projects and lessons my students have completed. Each picture is just a glimpse at what they have completed.
Region PBL
Students worked with their groups to create a physical representation of their US region. Each group had to show physical features, natural resources, and economic activity. Students had to research with their group to learn about each of these. Then together they wrote a presentation to give while presenting their physical creation. I have also done this digitally with using Google Map.

Michigan Erosion PBL
Students study the affects of weathering, erosion, and deposition. We look at how these different things can affect different parts of our planet. Students have to answer "How can we, as engineers, design a beachfront property to slow the effects of weathering, erosion, and deposition?" Students build a model with their group with certain materials and constraints. We then test the project to see how well their property stands up to the waves we manual create.

Talk to the Text
Here is an example of students using Jamboard to make connections, point out observations, and talk about what is going on in the book. Students will do this in pairs, groups, or individually. During different lessons students will be asked to do certain things. This helps readers draw on different connections and dig deeper into the text.

Michigan Road Trip
Students created their dream road trip through Michigan. They had to pick three place in the upper peninsula and three in the lower peninsula. They had to share what is unique about this place and also share physical features, natural resources, or economic resources. Students are need to be familiar with the different features that Michigan has to offer and connect it back to early civilization.

Book Clubs
Students are meeting with their groups to discuss their books. Students are assigned a different role to help lead the group in their conversations. They will make connections to their reading, share a summary, ask questions, or make purposeful predictions. Students will then make a plan for what they are reading next and pick new roles. Here studies are doing historical fiction book clubs.

Walking Man Stem Challenge
Students had a stem challenge to see if they could get their paper man to walk. Students are given different stem challenges throughout the year to see if they can collaborate together to solve this challenge. They have to communicate, use critical thinking skills, and creativity to complete the challenge.
